UK Ministry of Defence Selects Finecast for Defence Supplier Capability Development Programme

Feb 23, 2026 | News

Finecast Foundry has been selected by the UK Ministry of Defence for the Defence Supplier Capability Development Programme (DSCDP), following an extensive national assessment process involving a range of SME businesses from across the UK. From 561 applicants, only 10 UK businesses were selected, with Finecast identified as one of a small number of highly capable SMEs hand-picked for the programme.

The DSCDP forms part of the MOD’s wider industrialisation and supply chain resilience strategy, focused on identifying and supporting UK businesses that demonstrate strong capability, scalability and alignment with the future needs of the MOD and major defence primes. Finecast’s selection reflects clear strategic alignment with these objectives, including the company’s proven ability to operate within complex and highly regulated defence supply chains and its demonstrated potential for rapid growth across the UK and Europe.

The programme is designed to support UK defence suppliers with the capability, resilience and long-term competitiveness required to meet evolving MOD requirements. Finecast’s inclusion recognises its established role as a trusted defence manufacturing partner, its commitment to continuous improvement across quality, delivery and operational performance and its ongoing investment in people, skills and workforce development to support future growth.

Chris Heatley, CEO and Founder of Finecast Foundry, commented:

“Being selected for the Defence Supplier Capability Development Programme is something we are extremely proud of. It reflects the technical capability of our business, the strength of our people and our long-term commitment to operating as a Tier 1 supplier supporting UK and European defence programmes.”

Participation in the programme will provide access to structured capability development support and specialist expertise aligned with the evolving requirements of the UK defence sector. This will further strengthen Finecast’s ability to deliver high-integrity, safety-critical cast and machined components for defence platforms and programmes.

Duncan Levesley, DSCDP programme Director at Grant Thornton on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, commented:

“We are really looking forward to working closely with the Finecast Foundry team to deliver up to £200,000 of tailored business improvement support and help them to strengthen their strategic position and contribution to the UK’s defence supply chain.”

As an established defence supplier operating AS/EN9100-certified processes and a fully integrated manufacturing model, Finecast continues to invest in people, technology and systems to support critical defence programmes and long-term growth across the UK and European defence markets.
