Oct 23, 2023 | News

On the 12th-15th September 2023, Finecast Foundry exhibited at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition at ExCel London. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase our castings and services to the defence industry, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who visited our stand during the event.

It was a pleasure to meet up with our clients and partners, many of whom are involved in an array of defence initiatives, including the Boxer project. We are particularly proud to be a part of this project, which includes the manufacture of complex cast components for the Boxer vehicle’s power pack, scheduled over the next seven years.

At this year’s DSEI exhibition, Finecast Foundry highlighted a full range of casting services suitable for the defence sector. Our stand display featured a variety of complex geometry castings in a wide range of materials including aluminium alloys, austenitic stainless steel alloys, specialist heat and wear-resistant steel and iron grades and non-ferrous copper-based alloys.

We also displayed and demonstrated our fully integrated, in-house manufacturing process and capabilities including:

  • MAGMA Virtual Casting Simulation
  • 3D CAD Modelling and Mould Pack Design
  • Tool-less 3D Sand Printing
  • Pattern Tooling
  • Prototype and Production Volume Sand Casting Foundry
  • Heat Treatment
  • Metallurgy Testing and Analysis
  • Non-Destructive Testing (CT & Digital Radiography)
  • Precision 5-Axis CNC Machining
  • CMM Dimensional Validation

Visitors to our stand had the opportunity to interact with our technical team, who provided information about our casting capabilities and discussed specific requirements with potential customers. We also provided insights into the advantages of our casting processes, including the ability to have complete design freedom, guaranteed mechanical properties, tight tolerances, superfine surface finishes, fast turnaround times and how they compare to other casting methods.

Finecast Foundry also showcased technical expertise in creating complex defence components ideal for harsh environments. Our team of skilled engineers and metallurgists were present to offer advice and guidance regarding the production of high-performing defence parts. We demonstrated how our casting techniques could help customers improve the strength, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of even the most challenging defence components.

In addition to showcasing our products and expertise at DSEI, Finecast Foundry took the opportunity to conduct extensive market research about current and future requirements and trends in the defence industry. This research gives us an excellent perspective on the challenges our customers face in the industry. It allows us to adapt our services to meet the evolving needs of the defence industry.

In conclusion, Finecast Foundry extends its thanks to everyone who visited our stand at the DSEI exhibition Excel London. We were pleased to have the opportunity to showcase our casting capabilities, and expertise and participate in discussions regarding sand casting and how it is supporting defence industry projects.

Our team is grateful for the positive feedback we received from those in attendance and we look forward to continued collaboration with our customers as we continue to provide high-quality casting solutions to the defence industry.
