On the weekend of 2nd-3rd September 2023, our awesome fundraiser team AKA “The Finecast Rumblers” rose to an extraordinary challenge – the 100 km South Coast Ultra Challenge – to raise some serious money for the British Heart Foundation, a charity that holds a special place in all our hearts.
We are incredibly proud to announce that reached our fundraising goals and raised a whopping £6545, all thanks to the unwavering determination of “The Finecast Rumblers” team and the generous support from everyone who donated.
This epic challenge tested everyone to their limit, but the immense satisfaction that came along with completing it was immeasurable, making every step worth the effort. We’re humbled by the experience and excited to continue supporting causes that make a real difference in people’s lives across the UK.
About the South Coast Ultra Challenge
The South Coast Ultra Challenge is an ultimate endurance event that takes participants across the beautiful landscape of England’s south coast, starting at the coastal town of Eastbourne and finishing at the historical town of Arundel. It covers a staggering distance of 100 km with a climb of 2170m and can be completed either as a continuous non-stop journey or over two day’s, with an overnight camping break in Hove. Half distance and quarter distance challenges are also available.
The South Coast Ultra Challenge is super tough, the word “ultra” is in the title for a good reason! it requires immense physical and mental strength to conquer the steep hills, rugged trails, physical and mental fatigue, foot blistering and changeable weather conditions. The event attracts individuals and teams from all over the UK who are passionate about pushing their limits while raising funds for some amazing charities.
Why We Chose The British Heart Foundation
At Finecast Foundry, we strongly believe in giving back to our community. The British Heart Foundation is a cause that resonates deeply with us, as we have all been touched by the devastating effects of heart conditions in some way. By taking part in this challenge and raising funds for this incredible charity, we hoped to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by heart conditions while also promoting a healthy lifestyle among our team members here at Finecast Foundry.
Our Epic Journey
The South Coast Ultra Challenge was undoubtedly one of the toughest tests “The Finecast Rumblers” have ever faced. The relentless steep climbs and rocky terrain of the south downs way and hot weather conditions made it challenging for everyone, but we kept moving and with sheer determination we completed this epic journey to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Throughout the journey, we formed an unbreakable bond as a team, supporting and encouraging each other every step of the way. It has been an eye-opening experience for all of us, reminding us of the importance of both physical and mental well-being.
Crossing the finish line in Arundel was an emotional moment that we will never forget.
The event was exceptionally well organised with rest stops every 12 kms and major ones at 25 km, 57 km, 75 km and 100 km. Each of the major stops provided a wide range of food and drink (including water + electrolytes to refill your bottles and bladders), under cover seating areas, toilets, changing rooms and medial areas offering first aid, massages and blister taping.

What’s Next?
Completing the South Coast Challenge has left us all with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation to continue making a positive impact in our community. We are grateful for this experience and excited about all the opportunities that lie ahead.
